Work is currently underway by design grant awardee, the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), on the SCI-Arc Media Archive—a continuously-expanding online showcase of over 1,000 hours of videos of lectures originally presented at SCI-Arc from 1974 to the present. The videos document historic figures of world architecture and the local Southern California scene, including Frank O. Gehry, Thom Mayne, Eric Owen Moss, Zaha Hadid, David Hockney, Rem Koolhaas, and many more. The site will be free and accessible on a variety of media players, and a powerful search function will direct users to the specific part of a video relevant to their search topic. Users also can add comments and bookmark favorites. Working with the MAK Center for Art + Architecture Los Angeles, selections from the archive will be featured in regularly changing online exhibits produced by guest curators. Look for a launch of the SCI-Arc Media Archive in fall 2012.
